About

Founded in the 1950s, Pack 1 in Mendon, Massachusetts is chartered (sponsored) by the Mendon Police Association. We are part of the Tri-River District of the Knox Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Our companion organizations are Mendon Boy Scout Troop 1 and Troop 44.

Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. It is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth grade (or 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting.

The pinnacle of Cub Scouting is the Arrow of Light Award. The requirements for this badge include developing outdoor skills, gaining an understanding of the values of Scouting, and preparing to become a Boy Scout.

This recognition is the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform when a boy graduates into a troop. Adult leaders who earned the Arrow of Light as a youth may also wear the appropriate square knot on their adult uniform. Webelos Scouts who have earned the Arrow of Light Award have also completed all requirements for the Boy Scout badge.

The recognition for the religious emblems programs may also be worn on both the Cub Scout and Boy Scout official uniform. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of the religious emblems programs, however the programs are created and administered by the various religious groups.
