Scouting for Food Volunteers Needed

posted Oct 13, 2011 11:41 AM by Ken Atwell

The Pack is still looking for volunteers to help with the Scouting For Food drive.  Help is needed for both bag drop off on morning of Saturday, October 29th, and bag pick-up on morning of Saturday, November 5th.  This is a great opportunity for Scouts and their parents to make an important contribution assisting local families in need.  Easy-to-follow routes have already been created and maps will be provided, making this a low-effort activity.

Anyone with an hour or two to spare on either of these mornings is encouraged to contact Kevin St. Jean or Mary Ann LaBonne.

Pack 1 “OverKnight” Information

posted Oct 12, 2011 5:48 PM by Ken Atwell

Pack 1’s overnight this year will be on Friday, March 16th at the Higgins Armory in Worcester, MA.  Scouts and their parents will “camp out” indoors in the armory amid artifacts and recreations from from medieval times.  The cost is $50 per attendee, which includes evening events and a medieval-style chicken dinner.  Children must be chaperoned, and siblings and friends are encouraged to attend.  Higgins Armory’s web site is at http://www.higgins.org/.  Details on the “overknight” program itself can be found at http://www.higgins.org/overknight.php

Note that March 16th is an open night, meaning first-come/first-serve to the general public.  We are collecting a 50% deposit at the October pack meeting to get our reservation in now.  If you do not register with the pack, you can still attend, but you will need to coordinate your reservation with Higgins Armory yourself, and you run the risk of the event selling out.

Cub Scout Idol Coming Soon

posted Oct 11, 2011 5:52 PM by Ken Atwell

The next Pack meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 20th at Miscoe Hill at 7:00.  This month is the annual Cub Scout Idol den competition.  Let’s show some spirit with Scouting-themed songs, be they humorous or patriotic.  There is even a free pizza party for the winning den!

If your den is stumped, good ideas can be found on the Internet.  Here is a possible starting place:  http://www.angelfire.com/oh/claremansfield/cubs.html
